1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?

As a dedicated member of the Murray State community, I am committed to encouraging an environment where staff voices are heard and valued. Serving on Staff Congress presents an invaluable opportunity to actively contribute to decision making while advocating for the interests and well-being of all staff members. Staff Congress is a vital platform for representation, and ensuring that the diverse perspectives and concerns of staff across various functional units and roles are effectively communicated. By actively participating in Staff Congress, I can act as a conduit for the voices of my colleagues, striving to address their wants and needs while promoting a culture of collaboration. Additionally, serving on Staff Congress presents a unique opportunity for professional growth and networking. The opportunity to exchange ideas while cultivating leadership skills will benefit my future growth in higher education. Overall, I believe I can be a valuable member of Staff Congress to work towards a thriving campus community for all.

2. Please list work experience and community involvement.

I am the Career Experience Coordinator for Murray State University’s Career Services Office. In this role, I have the privilege of serving students, alumni, and employers who seek to hire students and recent graduates. I also work closely with many functional units on campus to create well-rounded programming and offerings to our students. For example, I work closely with the OSH department and the CIS department, as well as the School of Business on connecting them to employers in the community who offer internship programs. My work is not exclusive to these departments, by any means, they are simply the ones most often worked with. In addition, I am a member of the 2023-2024 Leadership Murray class in which I, and my cohort, made meaningful connections in the community through visits, workshops, and volunteer experiences. I have also volunteered with the Calloway County Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program in the month of February, in which I delivered approximately 30 meals to senior citizens in the northern parts of the county each Friday in the month. I am committed to furthering my professional development to serve others. I have completed the NACE 20-hour career coaching institute, I have completed and obtained certification for the Level 1 Google Educator, and I have researched and presented at the SoACE regional conference. I just completed my doctoral dissertation titled, University student worker productivity: A qualitative analysis for fulfillment of my Ed.D. in P-20 and Community Leadership.
