Will write-in candidates be allowed?
Write-in voting is not allowed for the Staff Regent election. If someone is interested in serving as staff regent they need to file prior to the deadline.

How long will the winner serve?
The staff regent serves a three-year term. The term of the candidate elected will begin July 1, 2021 and expire on June 30, 2024.

Are those currently holding these positions seeking re-election?
The staff regent position is governed by state law. The staff regent is allowed to seek re-election. As of this writing it is not known whether the current regent will seek re-election.

Is it true incumbents always win re-election?
No. One incumbent lost her re-election bid several election cycles ago.

When will the candidate list be announced?
The candidate list will be announced after the filing period ends and Human Resources has verified the candidates.

When is the election?
This year’s election will run from 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, through 11:59 p.m. Thursday, March 11. Look for the election link in myGate.

When will the results be announced?
Election results will be announced Friday morning, March 12.
