The following answers were provided by the candidate. They appear unedited.

  1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?

I would like to serve on Staff Congress because I am deeply invested in the success, culture and communication of Murray State University. In my role as Marketing Coordinator for the College of Education and Human Services, I work daily to amplify the work of faculty, staff and students, and I see firsthand how strong collaboration and clear communication contribute to a thriving campus community.

My background in marketing, journalism and student affairs has equipped me with the skills to effectively represent staff voices and advocate for meaningful initiatives. I regularly develop content, manage strategic messaging and engage with a wide range of audiences, which has strengthened my ability to listen, synthesize feedback and communicate ideas clearly across departments. Additionally, my experience teaching media ethics and writing reinforces my commitment to transparency, accountability and informed decision-making.

I am particularly interested in serving as a bridge between staff and leadership—ensuring that perspectives from across campus are heard, valued and reflected in institutional decisions. My experience working in both academic and student-focused environments allows me to understand a variety of staff needs and challenges.

Ultimately, I see Staff Congress as an opportunity to contribute to a positive workplace culture, support professional growth and help strengthen the sense of community at Murray State. I would be honored to represent my colleagues and actively contribute to initiatives that enhance the staff experience.

  • Please list work experience and community involvement.

My professional experience reflects a strong commitment to higher education, strategic communication and meaningful campus engagement. I currently serve as Marketing Coordinator for the College of Education and Human Services at Murray State University, where I lead comprehensive marketing efforts that elevate academic programs and institutional initiatives. In this role, I manage digital platforms, develop strategic messaging and produce high-impact content—including podcasts, press releases and visual media—to strengthen brand visibility and connect with key audiences.

In addition, I am an adjunct instructor in Journalism and Mass Communication, where I teach media writing with a strong emphasis on ethics, accuracy and media literacy. This role allows me to contribute directly to student development by preparing future professionals to communicate responsibly and effectively. As a Graduate Assistant in Student Affairs, I also played an active role in supporting campus programming and enhancing student engagement, including significantly increasing social media reach and participation in events.

Beyond my university roles, I serve as a content writer for Reframe52, where I write research-driven content focused on equitable workplaces. This work strengthens my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and contribute to conversations that impact workplace environments and professional growth.

Across all roles, I am committed to collaboration, clear communication and service. My work is centered on building connections, supporting student and staff success and contributing to initiatives that positively impact both the university and the broader community.

  • Will you be able to regularly attend the meetings and work on committee assignments?
