1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?
Being a member of Staff Congress would provide an opportunity for me to help make a positive difference for MSU. I believe some of the favorable outcomes of serving on Staff Congress would include: gaining knowledge about MSU and MSU policies; giving a voice to co-workers’ concerns and ideas; sharing information with BVC personnel; helping shape future policies; working with additional personnel at the MSU campus; and serving the entire MSU staff/faculty community.
2. Please list work experience and community involvement.
My employment history has been varied, in part because I am the wife of a career Marine, which meant we relocated often, and I am also a mother. The needs of my family played a major role in shaping my work experience outside the home. My professional career encompasses approximately 25 years in a management role.
Highlights include: Manager (photography, sales, and supervisory tasks); Assistant Editor (all aspects of monthly magazine production from content, writing feature articles and a monthly column to layout and advertising); Freelance Writer (monthly column, topic specific to trade magazine); and Office Manager/Regional Support Manager/Business Manager/Administrative Assistant (supervisory tasks, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general administrative tasks)
Community involvement has been in two primary areas: college and church. While obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree as a non-traditional student, I served as the Vice President of the Student Government Association for two years. Additionally, I served as the Vice President of the Gamma Beta Phi Society for one year.
In assisting my local church, I have served in various areas such as: Teaching (Sunday School Class and Children’s Church); Children’s Special Ministries (Music, Plays, and VBS); and Cleaning. Additionally, I have participated in Small Group Bible Studies and Women’s Groups, and I have supported outreach/missions programs.
