Have you served on Staff Congress before? Yes
If so, how long did you serve?4 or 5 years

The candidate was presented with the following questions. The responses are printed as received and have not been edited by Staff Congress.

1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?
I believe that we should all find something to be involved in either here at Murray State or in our community. Whether it is volunteering with a nonprofit organization, coaching youth sports, volunteering at a local school, working at your church, or finding ways to hopefully enhance life here at Murray State, we should find a way to give back. When my children were young, I was so involved in their sports and their school, and volunteering at church, that I did not have time to look for ways to be involved at Murray State University. When my youngest son graduated from high school, I was asked to consider running for staff congress. I realized this would be an opportunity to get involved and hopefully help improve life for our staff. I would appreciate your vote.
2. Please list work experience and community involvement. I have worked at Murray State since 1996. Before that, I was at the University of Georgia for 6 years, and worked at Western Carolina for three years and Mississippi State for three years. Since I have been at Murray State I have coached little league football, basketball and baseball when my boys were younger. I served on the budget committee at Murray Elementary, and I also served on the Site Based Decision Making Council at Murray Middle School and at Murray High School. I currently volunteer at The Journey Church, I serve as the Chapter Advisor for Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity on campus, and I currently serve on staff congress.

J. David is a candidate in the Executive/Managerial/Professional category.
