Jeremy McKeel(William) Jeremy McKeel

years at MSU: 23
Have you served on Staff Congress before? Yes
If so, how long did you serve?3 years

The candidate was presented with the following questions. The responses are printed as received and have not been edited by Staff Congress.

1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?
Shared governance is an important aspect of a well functioning University. As staff, we need to have the means to share our concerns with the administration and Staff Congress is that conduit. I’ve been fortunate to have fulfilled one term on Staff Congress and to take part in a number of committees, as we seek to improve the work experience for our colleagues.

I do believe it takes some time to learn the “lay of the land” and I’m proud of what I’ve learned in my first term and excited about the opportunity to further my work in Staff Congress, should I be elected to a second term.

2. Please list work experience and community involvement. I’ve worked as a media professional since 1995 and at Murray State since 1998. My tenure includes 9 years as a faculty member of the JMC Department. Our focus in Digital Media Services is to serve the University’s branding and marketing efforts through videography and photography, so my team and I are spotted at the majority of campus functions. Throughout the years, we have produced media that has given the University statewide and nationwide coverage.

My other campus involvement, aside from Staff Congress, included three years of service on the Alumni Association’s Board of Governors.

As for community involvement, I’ve been fortunate to serve on the board of directors for Soup for the Soul, Murray’s soup kitchen, since 2017. I serve on the board of directors for HOPE Calloway, and have since 2020. HOPE seeks to eliminate chronic homelessness in Calloway County. I have also served on the Calloway County Extension Council since 2019.

Jeremy is a candidate in the Executive/Managerial/Professional category.
