The candidate was presented with the following questions. The responses are printed as received and have not been edited by Staff Congress.

1. What do you perceive as the responsibilities of the Staff Regent?
To work with the other Regents in making sure policies and procedures are updated for the well being of all non teaching employees along with all teaching employees. To insure non teaching employees that I would represent with the most trust in always looking out for their best interest.

2. Do you understand the governance of the Board of Regents and how you would serve in that capacity? Explain.
It is to oversee the policies and procedures of the university in all departments and help adapt to the ever changing needs of day to day operations. I would always be looking out for the university and employees that make us the upstanding Establishment we are today

3. Serving as Staff Regent requires time commitments during the normal work hours (8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.), nights and weekends. Are you aware of the time commitment involved, and will you be able to devote this time and still perform your regular work duties?
Yes

4. Describe the most important work or University service experiences which will assist you in being an effective Staff Regent.
As a Foreman I have the ability to be out on campus in almost every building. It has given me the chance to meet the people that help this university thrive.I also get to face the day to day operations of our buildings that helped us become the University we are, and the challenges that it brings us on a daily basis.

5. Have you served in campus governance before and if so, how long and in what capacity? (example Staff Congress, Faculty/Staff Insurance and Benefits Committee, etc.)
Yes i have served on Staff congress for the last 2 years my term ends in 2022 unless elected Staff Regent

6. If elected the 2021-24 regent, what will be your top goals to benefit MSU staff?
To always be listening to my fellow employees concerns and ideas. It’s difficult for the the non professional employees to get the voice that they deserve to express the importance of how much they are needed on the campus and sometimes there needs are over looked As a non teaching employee that was employed here in the late nineties for thee years I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to run the shop I was a part of at that time. When I left to gain experience I was topped out at $12.50 an hour and over twenty years later that same position is only a dollar more than that.We can do better for our people that have built there lives around this place and continue to serve in every aspect of our campus community.
