Have you served on Staff Congress before? No
If so, how long did you serve?

The candidate was presented with the following questions. The responses are printed as received and have not been edited by Staff Congress.

1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?
I am pursuing a seat on Staff Congress to explore the sense of responsibility that I feel towards my fellow staff members and our campus community. In my current position as the Director of Development for Athletics, I have the unique privilege to be a member of two different units on campus in the Office of Development and the Department of Athletics. In my role, I have realized that even though we have varied differences in our functions, the people that make up these departments, like the rest of campus, often share the same concerns and values of what makes working at Murray State a great experience. If elected, I hope to use my seat as an opportunity to work together with Staff Congress and the University to find positive outcomes and creative initiatives to solve any possible issues that arise for my fellow staff members across campus.

2. Please list work experience and community involvement. As a member of the Office of Development, I am a part of a team that actively raises funds for scholarships and financial support for campus and the community. I have also actively planned and executed several campus alumni and university events, with the most recent one being the Dennis Jackson Racer Room’s dedication at Stewart Stadium. In my role, I often represent the Murray State at local and regional events, such as Chamber of Commerce gatherings and Ohio Valley Conference Tournaments and meetings. During the University’s remote working time during the spring/summer of 2020, I was a community engagement committee member as part of the campus’s overall Racer Restart initiatives. Also, I am a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church here in town.

Taylor is a candidate in the At-Large category.
