The candidate was presented with the following questions. The responses are printed as received and have not been edited by Staff Congress.

1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?

I’ve been on Staff Congress for the past year, serving as a member of the Special Events & Recognition committee, the Personnel Policies committee, and the Budget Advisory committee, as well as serving as the chair of the Staff Survey committee. I want to continue to represent my colleagues through the work that Staff Congress is doing. I think it’s important to do what I can to make Murray State University a great place to work — our staff members go above and beyond to create a stellar college experience for our students, and I want to help recognize and reward staff members for the work they do. I want to use my voice to speak up on behalf of my colleagues to advocate for increases in pay and benefits and to make important policy changes. Shared governance is a vital part of a healthy campus community, and I want to continue to represent my colleagues as part of this process.

2. Please list work experience and community involvement.

I currently serve as the Director of two TRIO Talent Search projects at MSU, which are federally-funded grant programs that provide college access and success services to students in grades 6-12. In addition to my Staff Congress experience (detailed in the previous response), I am the West Region Representative, Advocacy Chair, and Archives Chair for the KY TRIO professional organization. I’ve served as a member and President of the Calloway County Public Library Board of Trustees, and I currently serve as President of the Calloway County Public Library Friends of the Library group.
