The candidate was presented with the following questions. The responses are printed as received and have not been edited by Staff Congress.
1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?
I have enjoyed using my time on Staff Congress to help making Murray State better. If re-elected I will continue to work to make Murray State an even better place to work. As has been true throughout the years, I welcome your thoughts, comments and questions. Give me a call at 809-4491 or oherndon@murraystate.edu. I ask for you to vote for me so I can continue to work for you.
2. Please list work experience and community involvement.
I have worked in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications since 1991. I was elected to Staff Congress in 1994. I have served five one-year terms as president, served as vice president and treasurer of Staff Congress (1990s-early 2000s). Currently I serve as chair of the credentials and elections committee and on the personnel policies and benefits committee. I represent staff as a member of the Faculty and Staff Insurance and Benefits Committee. I was elected to serve as chair of that group for the spring 2024 semester. I served as part of the selection committee which chose Marsh McLennan Agency to serve as our health and wellness consultant. I look forward to some of the opportunities that consultant will be able to provide in the next few years.
