Jessica Cook

Student Financial Services

Years employed at Murray State: 8

Have you served on Staff Congress previously?  No

How long have you served on Staff Congress?

The following answers were provided by the candidate. They appear unedited.

  1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?

I would like to serve on Staff Congress because I care about improving the staff experience at Murray State and ensuring that the voices of frontline employees are heard and represented in university decisionmaking. Working in Student Financial Services has given me a unique perspective on how policies, communication gaps, and workflow challenges affect both staff and the students we serve. I want to help bridge those gaps.

I’m passionate about translating complex or technical issues into clear, actionable information — something I do daily in my position as a Financial Aid Counselor. I believe these strengths would allow me to contribute meaningfully to committee work, policy review, and collaborative problemsolving across campus.

Most importantly, I want to help create a workplace where staff feel valued, informed, and empowered. Murray State succeeds when its staff succeeds.
