The following answers were provided by the candidate. They appear unedited.
- Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?
I’m seeking another term on Staff Congress because this work has become incredibly meaningful to me. Since joining in January 2022, I’ve had the opportunity to listen to staff, advocate for their concerns, and be part of conversations that directly impact our campus. It’s work I care deeply about, and I’d like to continue building on it.
Over the past few years, I’ve developed a strong understanding of where Staff Congress can make the most impact. I’ve been involved in discussions around compensation, benefits, and workplace policies, and I’ve worked to ensure that staff perspectives are clearly communicated to university leadership. I believe one of our most important roles is not just gathering feedback, but helping move that feedback toward meaningful action.
If re-elected, I will continue to focus on clear communication, transparency, and advocacy. I want staff to feel informed, heard, and connected to the work of Staff Congress. Especially during times of change, that connection matters.
I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but I also know there is more ahead. I would appreciate the opportunity to continue representing my colleagues and contributing to a campus where staff feel valued and supported.
- Please list work experience and community involvement.
I have spent the past several years actively involved in service and leadership at Murray State and in the broader community. I currently serve as President of Staff Congress and have been a member since 2022, taking on roles including Vice President and Staff Survey committee chair. Through this work, I’ve been closely involved in efforts related to staff feedback, compensation conversations, benefits, and campus communication. I’ve also served on a number of university committees, including the Budget Advisory Committee, Insurance and Benefits Committee, University Assessment Committee, and the Presidential Inauguration Committee, which has given me the opportunity to see how decisions are made across campus and where staff perspectives are most needed.
Outside of Staff Congress, I stay actively engaged in both professional and community organizations. I serve in leadership roles within Kentucky TRIO, with a focus on advocacy and professional engagement, and I’m currently President of the Friends of the Calloway County Public Library, where I support programming and outreach efforts that promote literacy and access in our community.
Professionally, I serve as Project Director for TRIO Talent Search at Murray State, working with students and schools across western Kentucky. That role has strengthened my ability to collaborate, communicate across groups, and stay focused on long-term impact.
Overall, my involvement is rooted in a commitment to service, connection, and making sure people feel heard and supported.
- Will you be able to regularly attend the meetings and work on committee assignments?
Yes
