How long have you served on Staff Congress?

The following answers were provided by the candidate. They appear unedited.

  1. Why would you like to serve on Staff Congress?

I would like to serve on Staff Congress because I care about continuing to make Murray State a great place to work, especially when it comes to staff support, compensation, and benefits. We already have a strong foundation, but there is always room to improve, and I would like to be part of those conversations.

In my role, I regularly see how decisions impact staff across different areas of campus, and I think that perspective could be helpful. I tend to approach things from a practical, problem-solving standpoint and would want to contribute in a way that is thoughtful and realistic.

I also see this as an opportunity to grow professionally. It would give me a broader understanding of how the university operates outside of my college and help me build stronger connections across campus.

  • Please list work experience and community involvement.

I currently serve as the Finance, Business, and Administrative Manager for the College of Education and Human Services. In this role, I oversee budget development and reporting, personnel processes, and day-to-day operations, and I work closely with college leadership to support strategic and operational decisions. I also serve on college committees and help ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.

Prior to this role, I was a middle school teacher, which gave me a strong foundation in communication, adaptability, and working with a wide range of people. I have also owned and managed a small business, which strengthened my skills in problem-solving, accountability, and operations.

In terms of community involvement, I am active in the Murray Woman’s Club, where I help plan and support events that connect and recognize women in our community. I also stay engaged professionally through organizations like SACUBO, which allows me to continue learning and bring back ideas to support our campus.

  • Will you be able to regularly attend the meetings and work on committee assignments?

Yes
